Family camping trip

This past week has been so amazing, filled with hours on end with Christopher. Being around each other right from waking up until falling asleep has been so good. I've learned more about him and am grateful I always feel comfortable with him.

Last Friday, I decided I couldn't take it anymore. I needed to see him and crazily enough, I also was kind of missing driving to Utah. So after sleeping in Saturday, I drove down to see him. We hit the pool and hung out before he had to go to work. I was able to go with him for a little while. Now I know what all those late nights of talking to him on the phone are like. Working for Chevron, he drives around for about an hour checking out the pipelines and water surrounding it making sure there isn't any oil spills. There is about an hour break, then he does it again. Six runs in 12 hours. All night long. I was kind of a party pooper and wanted to go to bed early. Sunday morning we packed up camping gear and headed back up. The drive is still long to me, but with Chris it definitely went by quicker. I came home to find Mom wearing some of my clothes. All she had to say was "Oh, I didn't think you'd be back this soon." McKay helped me find my camping gear and I was all set for this week.

Monday morning, after picking up Christopher and running some errands, we set off. A few bad directions later we got there at the Palisades Reservior. We were still setting up our tents when everyone wanted to head out rafting. It was rainy pretty hard and we decided we needed to cover things so we stayed behind. Chris was pretty bummed to  miss out but we took a nap and got everything set up. They had a bad crash though so I'm not too sad about missing it. Most of the week was spent just hanging out with everyone. I am glad that I was able to spend so much time with the family and get to know them all a little better. Natalie's mom, sister, and brother were with us the first two days. The paintball guns came out for a little bit so the siblings could try it out. Bryce let them each take a shot at him and dang were they good. First shot each time and he had the welts to prove it. Chris and I stayed up kind of late, just sitting around the fire together.

I slept like a caterpillar that night and woke up to everyone getting up at 6:30. Christopher can't sleep well and was up at 4. We had a big breakfast and headed off to play in the reservior. It was still kind of a cold day and I didn't want to completely get into the water. We paddled out a little on the raft and sometimes I shake my head at Chris. He is so ridiculous sometimes I can't explain my laughter. Then sitting on the dock, we were cuddling. He put his arm around me, then with one big shove, I was in the water. So cold! I was warming up next to him and he complained about me making him cold. Served him right. After drying off back at camp, and eating lunch, the games were busted out. We played Five Crowns and Team Foot. I had no idea what I was doing, but hopefully helped out my team. Chris wanted to go back out to the water so we played around for a little bit. After tinfoil dinners, we played Doodle Dice, Chris winning both rounds. There were so many jokes going from Chris and Devon to Brandi and I. Out of control.

Chris and I were talking about wedding stuff in my tent when we fell asleep. Pretty soon though I was woken up when Christopher was hearing sounds. We are pretty sure there was a moose right next to us munching on all the trees. After calming down a little, we slept some more only for the same thing to happen. This time though, there was something sniffing around and in the garbage. It woke up others too but we got out at 5 to see what was up and go sown to the bathrooms. Turns out there was a skunk and Duke was out too. We tried to get a little more sleep, this time in Christopher's army tent. It was a little chilly and pretty uncomfortable on the ground. I didn't sleep very long but let Chris get in some more hours. Everyone else was up and finally we got up to break camp. Pulling everything down didn't take too long and we were on our way back. We unloaded Christopher's things and I headed home to shower. I took suck a long time showering, then had to take a second one because I still smelled like smoke.

Chris and I bummed around town for a little bit including stopping by Frank's to talk more about my ring. I had forgotten what it looked like and I love it. Chris should be getting it on Monday! We went and saw the movie Cowboys v. Aliens which was pretty good. Then we stopped by Jeanette. It is always good to see her and I'm really glad that Christopher was there with me. I know he saw how much I miss her and my tears on the way home were comforted. Next we ran out to my house where there is always teasing of me. McKay is plain silly and my mom makes me feel dumb by saying I actually am allergic to the mosquito bites that are driving me nuts. For dinner, I took him to Sammy's. It may not be Hires, but we both liked our food there. Back out at his parents house, Gordon asked me if Chris was happier now. I asked if he was sad before, and he said maybe it's just because Chris is happiest with me. I'm glad his family sees that and knows that we will be good together. Celia was also glad that I enjoyed myself and felt like a part of the family.

Later last night we still wanted to do something so I called up Rhett. We went out to his house (after I forgot where the road was) and jumped into his pool. Well technically Chris threw me in. We were all in for only a few minuted before getting out because at almost midnight, it was freezing. Inside we talked for a little bit. I think Chris felt a little bit out of place with Rhett, Kelsi Shipley, and Camille Lamb. They were mostly talking about people my age who he didn't know. But at the same time, I'm glad that my future husband is willing to spend time with my friends as well. we were pretty well drained and went home after that.

Christopher just left to go to work tonight but I am glad he will be back up tomorrow. He didn't want to leave. It really is true home is where the heart is. Even though we don't really like Rexburg, it's where we both can be so that's where we want to be. It's where we will be getting married in eight months. It's where our first home will be. I'm s excited for what else will happen here for the two of us.
