Military Side

This weekend, I saw a little bit of the military side of Christopher's life. He had drill again this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I was sore from work the day before and was lounging around. Christopher called and asked if I wanted to meet up for dinner since he was in Rexburg. I couldn't really miss him walking into Gringo's since he was in his uniform. Dinner was good, but we got a surprise. A waiter came by to give our check and informed us that it was on another party. We at least wanted to say thank you, but didn't know who paid for us. Chris said that things like this happen occasionally to him. Food, a filled gas tank.. I am very grateful to those that thank our troops. I am grateful to them all, but especially to my boy. I'm glad that he was safe while in Iraq. I'm glad that he loves this country and wants to protect it.

Sunday I drove down to Pocatello for Christopher's unit's family bbq. It wasn't all that exciting, but it was a family unit. Everyone knows everyone there. The wives are friends with each other. A friend of mine once said after being an army wive, she made friends faster because that's what you have to do to have support. I saw that there. I am so excited for our adventures together to start. Later on that day though, I forsaw something I hope doesn't have to happen often. Chris heading back down to Utah is just a little thing. What got me is that I don't know exactly when I will get to see him next. Knowing helps me go through every day because it's one step closer to being together again. Not knowing is hard for me. Still, we are close and I know I will see him soon. What I don't look forward to, if that day comes, is not knowing when Chris will come home. With the way troops are being pulled, it is unlikely Chris would be deployed. I know that would be so hard to have him away and not know. I just love being together and can't wait until we are together not to be separated again.
